Character
Character Name: Sora’s Heartless; was named Ardos last time he was here
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Gender: Male
Age & Canon Point: Two or three, chronologically; mentally, his late teens to early twenties. His canon point is just as he’s about to win against Sora, before Mickey arrives.
Requested Sponsor: He was Amethyst last time!
Entry position (Cadet, SeeD, Instructor, other): Instructor – Advanced Programming
History: The wiki page, although it has some inaccuracies. Also, this is specifically for Coded.

The Heartless merely takes advantage of the glitches which Naminé caused by messing with Sora’ memories. His progress in his escape is chronicled on-screen as a rising percentage that begins showing up after the Coliseum level.

As for previous game history, it’s his WR history! He arrived and lived in the Garden, working hard to pass his classes and keeping his nose clean. He initially went by Sora, asking philosophical questions anonymously on the network while learning. Through this, he began to understand people and become more human himself. Eventually, Riku and Kairi arrived. When they met him, they gave him a new name so he didn’t give Sora a bad name. So he went by Ardos for a good while. When Dataku arrived, he finally acted out and virus’d him. In his attempts to escape from the virus’d Dataku, he ended up getting injured and running into the Riku Replica, who became a good friend, finally teaching him what friendship was.
Garden History: After my drop, he would continue his studies until graduating a SeeD (which he was close to doing as he’d been there almost a year as it was). After that, he would begin to instruct in Advanced Programming due to his physical description limiting him. He’s since then become settled in to his role as an instructor—though this doesn’t necessarily mean he’s actually good with people, still.
Abilities & Physical Abnormalities: He’s a solid black human shape with glowing gold eyes. Also, a shapeshifter.

As well, there are his abilities.

X Heartless abilities:
X Heart stealing – like all Heartless, he can steal hearts and through this create more Heartless.

X Corridors of darkness – he can use corridors of darkness to travel between locations.

X Unique abilities:
X Shapeshifting – he has three forms he can move between. His true form, which is that of a Shadow Heartless. His Darkside form, which is only used for battle. And his Sora form, which is his most advanced form.

X Keyblade spam – he can summon extra false Keyblades from hammerspace and pound his enemies with them, or summon three at a time so spin around him. Only used in Sora form. (It’s more like he creates the Keyblades out of thin air.)

X Duplication – he can create two copies of himself. The real one will glow. Only used in Sora form.

X Feeding – Unlike most Heartless, he is able to use another source for his feeding. He is canonly stated as able to devour bad data, translating to negative thoughts and feelings outside of the Journal.

Personality: Previously: First and foremost, Data Sora’s Heartless is actually quite intelligent. He is one of two Heartless in the series able to speak, and he also formulates a plan to escape the journal into the real world. This is something unique to him, and the only other Heartless that shows any form of intelligence beyond mindless consumption is Xehanort’s Heartless. Of course, that’s not to say he isn’t driven by hunger, but so is any Heartless. (“Ones born of the heart and darkness, hunger for every heart until the dark door opens.” and “RAGE… HATRED… GLITCHES TO FEED MY DARKNESS. AND SOON, HEARTS TO SATE MY HUNGER.”)

Adding to this, he figured out a way to become stronger—something no other Heartless in the journal tries to do. He proved to be resourceful, using the glitches and even the minds of the Heartless to feed his strength. (“Your Heartless has been gathering up, then devouring the dark intentions of the fallen Heartless. That’s where it gets its power: dark data!” and “Defeating Heartless here in the datascape, though--that wouldn't have set any real hearts free. Instead, you've releases the Heartless's minds.”) His speech patterns also demonstrate an intelligence that even Sora doesn’t seem to have, and he uses words much more similar in pattern to Ansem then Sora. (“LONG HAVE THE FALLEN WANDERED. NOW THEY SHALL SERVE THE WILL OF DARKNESS.”)

He also shows an extreme amount of patience. He quietly waits while Data Sora and Data Riku speak and figure things out. He also had the patience required to remain hidden while he devoured said glitches and minds, and Riku—the very avatar for the journal—had no idea he was even doing this. (“Wait...that's it! You're not the only one who evolved within the datascape!” combined with “I know where the bugs came from. All of them! It's your shadow--your Heartless!”)

It is later revealed, though, that while he is not the source of the bugs, he makes them worse. The source is Naminé (“Memories used to fill Jiminy's Journal, but when they were pulled apart and then stitched back together... bugs appeared.”), and Sora’s Heartless simply takes advantage of the bugs—again, demonstrating both intelligence and resourcefulness that only Xehanort’s Heartless shows. (“I know where the bugs came from. All of them!”)

It is suggested through his own words that he experiences at least some degree of emotion. His word choice carries a tone of smugness, and he even comes across as taunting. (“LONG HAVE THE FALLEN WANDERED. NOW THEY SHALL SERVE THE WILL OF DARKNESS.” and “RAGE... HATRED… AND NOW, GLITCHES TO FEED MY DARKNESS.”) At the very least, he is extremely confident of himself, both suggested by his own words and by how he allows Sora and Riku to converse when he could have simply initiated a battle right off. (“RAGE… HATRED… GLITCHES TO FEED MY DARKNESS. AND SOON, HEARTS TO SATE MY HUNGER!”)

He’s also very, very determined to achieve his goal of escaping the journal. This is evidenced by how he does not accept defeat, instead drawing on his data and evolving once more to a human shape. (“Why is it looking at me like that?” and “When is this gonna end!?”) In fact, he perseveres to the point that Sora is weakened and unable to defeat him alone and Mickey himself has to intervene to keep the Heartless within the journal.

He is also extremely, extremely devious. Starting just after the Coliseum level, there are screens talking about recovering and assembling data, starting at 10%. This number steadily climbs higher and higher until, at 100%, this message is shown:

DATA RECOVERY... 100%
DATA ASSEMLY COMPLETE
GLITCH FOUND IN DARKNESS
AWAKENING DARK GLITCH
DELETE DATASCAPE YES/NO?
Y E S

Riku then goes on to say that whatever is trying to delete the datascape is the one who was controlling the bugs. When this is investigated, it is revealed to be none other than Sora's Heartless. He had, this entire time, used all of Sora's efforts to clean the Journal to his advantage and built himself up so that no one could stop him, proving himself to be quite the clever little thing.

However, through in-game developments, he has come to understand people more, and has come to understand what friendship is and why it is important. He has also become much less… Well, cruel.
What are your plans for the character in-game? To watch him grown even further than he has already, chasing that development as far as it can go.

Anything else? Not really!

II. Some days, Ardos likes his students. They’re good, know what they’re doing and pay attention! But some days? Some days, they don’t. And he has a headache just trying to explain things to them. Today had been one of those days, so he’d taken some free time off in the quad for a breath of fresh air, watching the landscape go by.

“Become an instructor, they said. Nurture minds, they said!” he mutters under his breath, rather sour on things at the moment. It’s not like he’d really had a choice, after all. Not with how he sticks out like a sore thumb. It was stick at the Garden and teach or… Possibly get killed. So he’d taken to instructing. Hrm.

With a deep sigh, he stares up at the sky. …Mm, maybe teaching isn’t so bad. The students are, after all, getting better. He’s a computer program, so of course he’ll be better at understanding this stuff than them.
